| Press ReleaseDUET, the only Unlocked Dual SIM Cell Phones approved by the FCC, introduced to the United States market by Beyond E-Tech. HOUSTON, Texas – December 2008-- The FCC has approved DUET cell phones for release in the United States market by Beyond E-Tech, Inc., a Texas corporation specializing in smart phones. The DUET line of phones are the only unlocked cell phones with dual SIM functionality to receive FCC approval. Designed to meet the needs of jet-setting consumers and international business customers, DUET brand phones provide essential communications features, global connectivity, and personal productivity benefits, all in addition to an unparalleled convenience.
Dual SIM functionality allows a person to have one phone with two phone numbers. SIM cards make it possible for a person to switch out telephone numbers while keeping the same phone. An unlocked phone can be used with most major GSM carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, Virgin Mobile and even pre-paid phone services. The dual SIM card advantage means you can have one phone number for business and another number for personal use while still only carrying one phone. Or you can have lines for two independent businesses on the same phone. For the international traveler, the DUET is a godsend, allowing you to avoid roaming charges by carrying a local SIM in one slot, while remaining in touch with your home base by also keeping your main number on the phone.
A recent blog post by JupiterMedia CEO, Alan Meckler, illustrates this point- the all too common problem that the DUET smartphones solve:
Readers know that I was in Russian a few weeks ago. I always travel with my BlackBerry Curve and trusty IBM X41 ThinkPad (and now my new Kindle). Travel abroad always means additional roaming charges from AT&T. I know that a few days in most countries in Europe could mean a few hundred dollars for roaming charges.
My roaming charges for Russia just appeared on my AT&T bill. What a shock! The normal extra $200 became nearly $2000 for a few days in Russia. My calls were no longer nor were they more numerous than what I usually have for a trip to England, France, Germany etc.
Next time I go to Russian I will check out other options for mobile phone use. Hopefully my expensive lesson will help anyone planning on travel to Russia to be able to save on mobile phone costs? I presume there is a good Web site out there that gives tips and warnings to travelers about excessive roaming charges abroad? Please let me know?
Alan’s problem lies in not having the right service provider for the job. If Alan had used a dual SIM card phone, this problem could have easily been avoided. While still keeping his home contacts, Alan would be able to avoid these costly charges by using a Russian provided SIM card in addition to his own SIM card. By using a DUET, Alan could do this while never carrying around two phones and never having to worry about buying a new phone no matter where his business travels take him. This is the advantage that Beyond E-Tech offers.
Having two numbers, but just one phone is a long overdue commodity. Beyond E-Tech challenges the current cell phone giants with innovative ideas that will change market standards. As an up and coming player in the industry, Beyond E-Tech is a stable company looking to expand to meet the needs of new and growing demographics.
To help face the challenges presented by a competitive market, Beyond E-Tech is proud to be closely partnered with Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc. ABAT is a NASDAQ publicly traded company that specializes in offering rechargeable polymer lithium-ion batteries of the highest quality. By combining high-energy chemistry and state of the art polymer technology, ABAT overcomes competitor’s shortcomings all while offering an environmentally friendly battery. Both companies have laid a joint foundation that will help them stay stable while pursuing a unique position in this competitive market.
